One picture could change your life.
To Jim Straka, Photography is a second language.
Evocative, innovative, original. Beginning with studying photography at the Cleveland Institute of Art Jim has spent many years developing his craft as a professional photographer. It was then, that he learned how exciting it is to capture special moments in people's lives. Great moments of emotion are the most important times in life. That is what he strives to capture and turn into art.
Most notably Jim had the privilege to spend ten amazing years as a Wedding Photographer with the Walt Disney Company in Orlando, FL. As a photographer with Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and Disney Meetings, he photographed over 3500 unique events in a 10-year period. During this time he began to understand how important fine art photography is to the client. This experience allowed him to develop a unique mix of traditional, documentary and stylized shooting.
Beyond weddings, Jim has spent a large amount of time photographing special events for Disney Institute, Disneyland Resort Paris, Disney Cruise Line, Procter & Gamble, IBM, HP and Price Waterhouse Coopers just to name a few.
It’s your wedding, family gathering, engagement or any other event... it’s your special day! When it comes to capturing those special moments, Jim Straka Photography knows how important your celebration is to you and your loved ones.
These are the memories you’ll tell stories about. Memories of joy, happiness and love. Jim Straka Photography gives you the gift of remembering your celebrations for a lifetime.
Jim is available for assignments throughout the United States and Europe.

It's not the camera, but who's behind the camera.

Great photography is simple.
It is merely to discover, collect, arrange, create, anticipate or provoke exquisite subject matter;
and then to choose, invent, or patiently wait for
the perfect balance between light, shadow and time,
utilizing the proper electronic and mechanical equipment,
which will capture the moment forever, just as it is right now,
in a visually meaningful and aesthetically interesting way.
That moment in time will only be remembered through this one photo.
It takes only a camera.
It is almost as simple as writing, which needs only pen and paper;
as sculpting, which requires only chisel and mallet;
or as orchestra conducting, which demands only a thin stick and an evening coat.
